COVID-19 Update – March 13, 2020

March 13, 2020

Dear Monroe School District Students, Families and Community Members,

In keeping with the latest direction from Governor Brown, the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education, Monroe Schools will close March 16 and students will return to school on April 1. During the closure, all school-based sports, practices and extracurricular activities will also be cancelled.

To make up for missed instructional time, the following days will now be considered instructional student-contact days:

  • Thursday, April 2nd (was a GS parent-teacher conference day)
  • Friday, April 3rd (was a GS parent-teacher conference day)
  • Friday, April 10th (was a professional development day)
  • Friday, May 22nd (was a furlough day)

More days may be added to the school calendar in June depending on the length of the closure, state mandate and Board decision. As these decisions are made we will keep updated information posted on our District Facebook page and via Blackboard.

Monroe School District staff will be providing grab and go lunches for all Monroe children from 11:00 to 1:00 at Monroe Grade School starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20. There will be no charge for these lunches.

Monroe School District will continue to monitor the situation in conjunction with state agencies and will continue to provide updates during the extended break. Thank you for your patience and continued support as we all work through this complex and quickly changing situation.

Bill Crowson, Superintendent
