Monroe High School Update – February 11, 2021

February 11, 2021

Dear Parents and Students,

With many changes underway, this afternoon the Oregon Health Authority and Governor’s office announced a loosening of full contact sports restrictions. This brings opportunities and optimism back for many student athletes across the state. A few updates for Monroe High School fall sport athletes:

Football

February 11th @ 3:45pm – 5:00pm the football team will be holding a team meeting and conditioning session. This will be a time for coaches and players to discuss the requirements to play full-contact football and begin the early season process. Please bring a mask and meet in the HS gymnasium.

Volleyball

Practice begins February 22nd. We will have more information for volleyball players as the season nears. We are still obligated to operate under the “Indoor Recreation” guidance from the state. Again, I am optimistic things are progressing towards more opportunities for kids.

Strength/Conditioning

Mr. Fielder is offering students the opportunity to participate in a zero period class. For those that cannot find time in their schedules during the day, you may be able to attend “zero period”. Please contact Mr. Fielder for more information.

Reminder: All athletes must have a sports packet filled out completely to begin practice. Monroe School District has waived all athletic fees, but we MUST have the paperwork turned in to the high school office before your sport season can begin.

Please reach out to coaches, or I, with any questions.

Sincerely,

Beau Sisneros – Principal
