MHS Update – April 6, 2021

April 6, 2021

Dear Parents and Students,

Quarter 3 is nearing an end and spring has arrived. Spring is an especially busy time at Monroe High School and this school year is no different. Please refer to these important updates. Please contact the high school office with any questions that you may have.

Forecasting

We are preparing for next school year. Forecasting is when returning students get to voice classes they are interested in taking next year. This helps us build a schedule that fits our teachers and our students. Please be looking for any information in the mail or email for upcoming information on this process.

Return to In-Person

Our state guidance has been updated with fewer in-class spacing requirements. This sign of improvement is providing more space for students in the classrooms. With zero COVID shutdowns or school related issues, quarter 3 has been a tremendous success. We would like to invite all of our students, working through our online offering, to return back to in-person. At this time, we are assuming that each student will continue into quarter 4 with their current model of learning. If you are interested in having your child return to in-person learning, to end the school year, please reach out and we can answer any questions that you may have.

The last day for quarter 3 is April 8th. We would like to have students registered for all of their classes on April 9th. Any student that is transitioning back to in-person will need an updated schedule from us to have smooth transition in to quarter 4.

Class Announcements

The high school provides daily announcements for students, parents, and staff. There are many important things that get shared through this process. These announcements can be accessed through google classroom (students) or on the school district website (parents). Please visit Monroe.k12.or.us for these announcements.

Grades

Teachers are using multiple platforms for student learning. This gives us the ability to teach all of our students no matter what their mode of learning is. The Wazzle gradebook, formerly known as Pinnacle, is our foundational grading system. All teachers update the Wazzle gradebook weekly and this will be the student’s grade that is put on report cards. Please reach out to teachers or the high school office for any questions or help needed accessing these grades.

Spring Sports

Spring sports practices start today, April 5th and the first day of competition is April 12th. The high school must have a sports packet filled out with an up to date sports physical form to participate. This is a one-time process this school year and all athletics are free for families. All paperwork can be picked up and turned in at the high school office. Baseball and softball both have morning sessions beginning this week. For any sports information, please contact the high school office.
