MHS Update – April 30, 2021

April 30, 2021

Dear Parents and Students,

The end of the school year is quickly approaching. Students and staff are doing a tremendous job navigating the many hurdles this year has presented. We appreciate all our family and community support. A few updates as we progress into week 4 of Quarter 4.

District Calendar Changes

The district has made some minor adjustments to end the school year with the academic calendar. A few dates to be aware of: You may access the academic calendar through the district website at: Monroe.k12.or.us
6/10 –Last day for students 9-11; Half Day (checkout day)
6/11 – High School Graduation (Details will be communicated as we near the date)

The adjustments are minor and do not require students to return the following week.

Athletics

Spring Sports
Seasons are more than halfway through with many Monroe students having tremendous success. Each spring sport will have a culminating week to pursue post-season achievements.

Also, spring sports can be very fluid and schedules can change quickly. Please check with OSAA.org for the up to date schedules or subscribe to our weekly email list by sending me a quick email with your name and email address.

Winter Sports
We have recently been granted the opportunity to progress with winter sports. More guidance is coming, but we are glad to offer these events for our student athletes. Coaches are preparing to start practices May 10th. Please check with the high school office for any sports related questions.

Junior/Senior Prom

MHS wants to provide every possible opportunity for our kids. With current COVID restrictions and state guidance, we will be postponing our previously scheduled Prom to a later date. The prom committee has a put tremendous of effort into organizing this event and we still want to make it a possibility. We are looking at other alternatives to help our kids enjoy high school and the many activities it has to offer. Like all things this school year, flexibility and creativity will help make this possible.

Thank you again and please feel free to call or email with further questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Beau Sisneros – Principal
