Monroe High School Update (06/02/21)

June 2, 2021

Dear Parents and Students,

We have two weeks left in the school year and many upcoming events. Please let us know if you have any questions and we are happy to help in any way.

End of Year Awards

We will be holding our annual student end of year award assembly June 3rd at 1:00pm, in the main gym. Due to capacity limits, we invite ALL students to attend. We will broadcast the ceremony via NFHS network for families to view at their convenience.

Graduation

The graduation ceremony is scheduled for 7:00pm on June 11th . We will be coordinating with Seniors over the next two weeks. Each student will be offered 10 reserved tickets to provide their families and friends. Depending on the need, we may have additional tickets on request. There will be an option for open admission but will not have seats available.

With COVID restrictions still in place, we will be having our ceremony outside. As the day approaches, please plan accordingly for adverse weather. Our graduates will be in the grandstands for the spectators to view from the football field. We plan for another smooth ceremony similar to last year. A graduate parade through Monroe will take place at the end of the ceremony. Please feel free to join us and congratulate the recent grads.

SBAC

We have finished our first round of Smarter Balanced Assessments. With some loosening of guidelines, the test has taken students approximately 45-60 minutes. If your child has not completed these assessment, please let us know and we can schedule them an appointment in the next week. We appreciate all who have participated and look forward to using the data to help make next year a success.

End of Year Checkout

The end of year checkout helps us complete all of our unfinished tasks. All students need to attend their checkout time/date to turn in books, chromebooks, pay fees, return athletic equipment, etc. Please make sure all attend these days.

Calendar Dates

  • June 9th: Last day/Checkout for Seniors – 8:30am
  • June 10th: Graduation practice – 8:30am (Seniors)
  • June 10th: Half-Day and checkout for grades 9-11 from 8:00-11:00am
  • June 11th: Graduation Ceremony @ 7:00pm

Athletics

Spring sports finished with much success. All of our spring sports teams had great seasons and represented Monroe well. Basketball has begun and is off to a great start. You are able to watch games through the NFHS network or attend home games in-person. Please reach out to the HS office for any questions.

Junior/Senior Prom

Prom has been rescheduled and is set for June 5th . Our Junior and Senior students have put a tremendous amount of work in preparing for this event. We are glad they will get this opportunity.

Summer School

We offer opportunities for students to recover credits during the summer months. The courses are online and students need to come to campus one day a week. If interested in learning more, please reach out to Mrs. DeVicq (lexi.devicq@monroe.k12.or.us). We are starting signups for summer school classes next week.

Thank you again and please feel free to call or email with further questions or clarification.

Sincerely,

Beau Sisneros – Principal
