Dear Parents and Graduating Seniors,
Like many things this school year, flexibility is a constant part of our day. The weather forecast has continued to call for rain. After speaking with our local health authority, we have been granted the opportunity to hold our graduation ceremony indoors. Like we have seen all year, this comes with many other layers of preparation and precautions. Please take a look at our adjusted plans for the graduation ceremony this Friday, June 11th at 7:00pm.
Location: Monroe High School Commons/Gymnasium
Time: 7:00pm
Guidance
Under the guidance given by the state health authorities, we are able to host an indoor ceremony at 50% capacity. Each student will be given tickets to disseminate as they would like. We ask that all who attend wear a mask and maintain a social distance from others outside of your immediate family/group.
Tickets
Tickets will be taken at the door of the gymnasium. We must hold closely to our capacity limits to provide this opportunity for friends, family, and graduates. Each student will receive 15 tickets. Ten tickets are for reserved seating (chair on gym floor) and five are a general admission seat (bleachers). Reserved seats will be in blocks of ten to keep fidelity with distancing guidance. There may be opportunity for surplus tickets on a student-by-student basis. Please let me know if you have the need. Also, we have a small reserve of seats for community members that would like to attend. Please contact me at the high school office for availability.
Graduation Practice
Graduation practice has been moved to Friday (6/11) in the high school gym at 10:00am. All participating graduates MUST be there to prep for the ceremony. The Valedictorian and salutatorians need to have a speech ready at graduation practice.
Parade
We still plan to participate in the post-ceremony car parade immediately after the commencement. The north parking lot (by the baseball field) will be the staging area for this. This should take place at approximately 8:30pm.
Other
We will not be able to accommodate a place for the graduate gifts and poster boards. Space is needed for the ceremony and to maintain distancing protocol. The graduation night party is a great place to get any cards or gifts to the recent grads.
Again, I appreciate your patience and support as this year comes to an end. Please reach out to me or the high school office with any questions.
Sincerely,
Beau Sisneros – Principal
