Monroe High School Update (11/9/23)

November 9, 2023

We have passed the quarter mark of the school year. This is a great time to take inventory of where student success is and adjust how we proceed into quarter two. Please be aware of the following items.

Quarter Grades

The high school does not finalize grades at the quarter mark. This is merely a check point to evaluate student progress. Grades are final at the end of the semester (January). This is a great time to check on student work and adjust as needed. We would appreciate parent input and support to help increase student success.

Parent Teacher Conferences

If you are new to MHS or feel that your child is under achieving, please let us know. We will host our annual Parent Teacher Conferences next Thursday and Friday (11/16 and 11/17). We try to accommodate around your busy schedules, by opening our doors from 8:00am – 8:00pm on November 16th and 8:00am – 12:00pm on November 17th. We offer group times where you can meet all of your child’s teachers at the same time or you can schedule individual meetings with teachers. Please call the high school office to schedule a time.

Meetings typically last around 20 minutes. Also, we highly encourage your child attends the meeting with you. They can give valuable insight on what they are learning and how they can take ownership of the process.

Athletics

Fall sports have come to an end. However, winter sports seasons are starting next Monday, November 13th. For basketball and wresting, all students need to register online via Final Forms. Please make sure you have completed the registration and “signed up” for the sport. The registration process can be found on the main page of the district website (Monroe.k12.or.us).

Food Program

If your child eats school provided lunch or breakfast, please make sure to visit: https://family.schoolcafe.com/MSD1J to set up an account. This allows you to view your account balance and pay online.
