Monroe High School Update (4/2/24)

April 2, 2024

Spring is here and with it comes a lot of school events and happenings. Please be familiar with some upcoming items.

End of Quarter

Friday April 5th is the end of quarter three. There will be no school this Friday. This is a grading day for teachers to update grades and progress for students. This is an excellent opportunity to reach out to teachers to ensure a successful end of the school year.

Summative Assessment

As a reminder, each spring we administer the Smarter Balanced Assessment. 90-95% of Monroe High School Juniors take the exam. We strive to reach 100%. The assessment provides us with useful data to compare with past performance and with others around the state. The testing window for English and Math will be May 20th

– 24th. Please reach out to the high school office with any questions or check the school website for opt-out information.

Senior Project Half-Day

Thursday, April 4th is a half-day of school to provide time for this year’s graduating seniors to present their senior projects. Seniors have the opportunity to shadow, interview, and experience potential career/educational paths. The culmination is the chance to present their experience to our staff. 12th grade students do not attend school that day due to prepping and presenting their experience. 9th – 11th grade students will have classes from 8:00am to 12:05pm. Busses will run at 12:15pm.

7th & 8th Grade Elective Day

A new tradition we have started, is hosting our Monroe Middle School 7th and 8th graders to visit the high school for the afternoon. On April 26th, we will provide the opportunity for our middle school students to experience many of our course offerings. This is a half-day for high school students.

Athletics

Spring sports are well on their way. For updated schedules, you can find them online. Baseball is on OSAA.org. Track and Field is located on Athletic.net. Please come out and support the kids.
