Monroe, Oregon is a community of 600 with approximately 2,500 people in the surrounding area. The school is a hub in an area of agriculture including forestry, the wine industry, grass seed, mint, Christmas trees and vegetable seed crops. The city of Monroe is nestled against the first foothills of the Coast Range Mountains, facing the Willamette Valley. Highway 99 West connects Monroe to the city of Corvallis, (home of Oregon State University) 17 miles to the north, and the city of Eugene (home of University of Oregon) 23 miles to the south. The Oregon Coast is about 1½ hours to the west while Portland is less than 2 hours to the north. Bend and Central Oregon are also less than 2 hours to the east.
